A knitting book with a touch of North Jutland
For the last 40 years, Marianne Isager has been at the forefront of Danish knitwear design, and her many knitting patterns and books have helped keep the old craft alive. Today, knitting is not just for the older generations, but is a craft that the younger generation has also embraced.
When artist and graphic designer Rikke Nygaard needed help producing a beautiful, polished half-volume book about Marianne Isager’s life, she contacted Stibo Complete, and we immediately started discussions about finding the right solution.
Marianne Isager was born in North Jutland and has spent a large part of her life there, so the book needed to embody the atmosphere and modesty of North Jutland, but it also needed to exude luxury and quality.
A thorough process that produced a great result
In close collaboration with Rikke Nygaard, we created a beautiful book with the perfect format, paper and other materials to meet these requirements. The process started with a desire to ensure the best possible printing result for the many images from different periods of Marianne’s life – some on paper, others on slides, and all of varying quality. The freshly shot model images also had to undergo image processing to optimise them for printing on matte paper. After scanning, image processing, proofing and approval, we immediately began printing, for which Rikke Nygaard joined us in Horsens. The book was then given its finishing touches at the bookbinder in Randers.
We were involved from start to finish as advisors and creative sparring partners, which ensured that Marianne Isager was delighted with the really great result we achieved.
